Driver's license

You are a foreigner and you ask yourself: Is my driving license valid in Mauritius? Don’t worry! The driving license received from your country gives you permission to drive in Mauritius. In fact, anyone who already has a valid driver's license is not forced to pass a driving test on the island.

Roads

Mauritius has only one highway. A diagonal one; it starts at Plaisance airport (south-east of the island) and ends at Grand Baie (North of the island). There is no road toll in Mauritius. The highway is free. The average speed limit on it is 80-100 km / h. On the other hand, speed limits are 60 km / h in rural areas.

Left driving

Being an old British colony, the island kept the left driving and the priority is for vehicles coming from the right.
